With family present peacefully passed from this life into the Loving Arms of His Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Rev. Hans Walter Knauer, at the Dearness Home in London on Friday, April 29, 2011 in his 83rd year. Loving and faithful husband to Friedel for 56 years. Beloved father to 5 children, Paul (Claire) Knauer, Mike (Monica) Knauer, Barb Knauer (Frank Nesci), Gabi (Gordon) Robson, Andrea (Ken) Chaisson. Much loved Opa to 7 grandchildren, Michael (Mandy) Knauer, David Knauer, Teresa Nesci, Elisha (Fiaz) Syed, Patricia Nesci, Aaron and Zachery Chaisson. Hans was a life-long and full-time servant of God as missionary and pastor with the Liebenzell Mission Germany on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea (1955-1969) and as Pastor to the Willowdale Evangelical Mission Church, Toronto (1969-1980) and as the Director of the Liebenzell Mission of Canada (1969-1995). Hans was a faithful member of Gale Presbyterian Church, Elmira. The family will receive their friends at the Gale Presbyterian Church, 2 Cross St., Elmira, on Wednesday, May 4th, from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment in Elmira Union Cemetery. The family wishes to express deepest appreciation to the staff, family and volunteers of the Dearness Home, London, for their warm friendship, personal and professional care. In lieu of flowers donations to the Liebenzell Mission of Canada, 12168 First Line, RR#1 Moffat, Ontario, L0P 1J0, would be deeply appreciated by the family.
